The Jefferson Street project is the second phase of the Downtown Lynchburg Revitalization program. The 10,000 s/f of SF Rima pavers used for the parking spaces is on the James River side of the street, so the surface water is directed toward the pavers. The overflow from the permeable system is directed into one of three rain gardens located on the opposite side of the walkways: to ensure that all the water is filtered before re-entering the river.

This phase was completed in 2010 by Southern Landscape Gp. Work continues on phase 2, which consists of additional parking, sidewalks and a large pedestrian walkway.
