Congratulations to our November Hardscape Hero winner, Josh Goff of Commonwealth Curb Appeal.

The owner of this beautiful home in Richmond, Virginia, wanted a new, updated look for their pool deck. As avid entertainers, they were eager to upgrade from their existing weathered wooden deck to the fresh, natural look of Eagle Bay’s hardscape products.

“We always work very closely with all of our clients to create their vision and to provide them with the ultimate end result,” says Josh Goff of Commonwealth Curb Appeal, the landscape designer on this project.

To provide the homeowner with the custom look they desired, Josh used a combination of Eagle Bay paver and wall product to produce the perfect setting. Like most renovations, this project presented a number of challenges. First, because of the sloping backyard, Josh and his crew needed to install a retaining wall to reinforce the grade of the pool deck. Then, to maximize the feel of the space they built in a seating wall. However, before any of that could take place, there were obstacles to overcome. Because there was fencing and landscaping on all sides of the home, access to the site was difficult for bringing in and taking out the necessary materials. Demo included taking away the existing wooden deck and removing the pre-existing concrete pool. In addition, special drainage plans were developed due to the existing grade of the pool, and access to the doors of the home needed to be considered. One by one, Josh and his crew saw the challenge, met it, and made a beautiful space for the homeowners.

The paver patio was created using 4” x 8″ Antiqued, Brikstone in a basket weave pattern and framed by 6″x 6″ Antiqued, Cottage Stone grids and borders. Both the freestanding wall surrounding the pool deck and the custom-seating wall were created using Highland Stone.

“At night it feels like the Bellagio in Las Vegas,” said the homeowner. “We could not have been more thrilled with the end result.”

Thanks to the dedication and design expertise of Josh Goff and his crew, Commonwealth Curb Appeal was able to create a unique outdoor entertainment area that provides the space, durability and comfort that the homeowner desired.
